The Ikea kitchen planner is like crack
March 2nd, 2008 by Aabra
It took 22 hours, three trips to Ikea, and a sore mouse hand, but we finally finished our kitchen design. Here is the 2D layout and the 3D overhead view:

It’s simpler than my original design, but a lot of the elements I adore made it. Rounded shelves, white cabinetry, slim appliances.
All the Ikea stuff comes to $2,100, the appliances are another $2,000, and Matt *thinks* the counter top will come in under $1,000. Add paint, new window treatments, fixing the drywall, electrical work, new light fixtures, tile back splash– now we’re talking $8,000.
$8K seems steep for 76 square feet, but that’s $4,000 less than what I offered a contractor last fall. Kitchens is spendy business.
