E. E. Cummings– avant garde, not mechanically inept

Sorry, Mom, I can’t find any evidence that E. E. Cummings never used capital letters or that he ever used a broken typewriter. He specifically asked publishers to capitalize his name, and a quick skim of Cumming’s poetry reveals plenty of capital letters:

in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame baloonman…
Sorry. But the broken shift key legend is funny, even if it completely misses the point of Cummings’ avant garde punctuation style.
