Fav HP7 title theories

Favorite Harry Potter book title theories:

* It has something to do with the four hallows of Arthurian legend: a broken sword (Gryffindor’s), a cup (Hufflepuff’s), a coin or pentacle (I guess that’s Slytherin’s locket), and a baton, wand, or crown (something of Ravenclaw’s, possibly a tiara??)

* The fact that the title was revealed with a game of Hangman has lead some to theorize that Harry will play the part of the Tarot’s Hanged Traitor. On this card a wounded man is bound to a tree. He is upside down (remember Harry being upside down during the third task?) His right leg is tied behind him, symbolizing conscious, logical thought. He must depend on unconscious thought to escape. The Hanged Traitor voluntarily sacrifices himself and experiences a spiritual rebirth.

* England has many places named Hallows. And remember when JKR told director Cuaron there couldn’t be a graveyard in PoA because it is somewhere else at Hogwarts?

“She gave me the whole explanation of why the graveyard cannot be there, because it’s in a different place of the castle. Because it’s going to play… and she knows her thing, she knows exactly what’s going to happen later.”

Our theory is that the Deathly Hallows is a literal place near Hogwarts or Hogsmeade that Harry and the gang will visit on Halloween to commune with spirits. Or Sirius, at least. It’s probably where the four founders are buried and is protected by all sorts of enchantments. Maybe you need to be a relative to get in, or have an artifacts…?
