Comic Con carnival

A mess o’ San Diego Comic Con news and stumbled upon-type stuff…
* 2010 Eisner award winners include Chew, yay!
* Was the crazy midnight release party for the final “Scott Pilgrim” volume proof that comics have arrived, or is that question as dorky as it sounds?
* Johnny Vasquez’s next project is with… Marvel?? Where’d I put my patented hipster “sell out!” bullhorn, ‘haven’t touched it since I heard OK Go in a Target ad…
* I’m always jealous of comic artists, ’til I read how miserable their working lives are…
* Lots of Kenneth Branagh’s Thor rumors flying around, but this teaser just confused me.
* Sorry, couldn’t help myself. Here’s my one bow to mainstream entertainment: Joss Whedon on the “Avengers” script, which he is writing from scratch, nice.
* Who loves Fantagraphics, Seattle-based publishers of Tales Designed to Thrizzle, Ghost World, and Love and Rockets? Matt Groening, that’s who.
* Peter Serafinowicz calls Michael Kupperman amazingly funny, so cool.
* ‘Know who else likes Michael Kupperman? Grant ****ing Morrison.
* Not quite Comic Con-related, but someone made (barely) animated versions of some of Kate Beaton’s Hark! A Vagrant. Adorable.
* i09 catches up with Venture Bros.’ Jackson Publick, talks about making lawyers nervous by featuring David Bowie, suicidal Batman fans, and recovering pedophiles as characters.
* Answers– glorious answers!– for Venture Bros. fans at Adult Swim’s panel. There was a trailer, too, but this was the best copy I could find. Come on, Adult Swim, sober up and post that muthah!
* Biggest buzz: I don’t even care what Cowboys and Aliens is about– you tell me there’s a Daniel Craig/Harrison Ford film and I ask when and how much.
* Biggest buzz in this household: Full “Goon” trailer, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
